Program of Bathing ritual
All groups are to pin up on Tuesday, a proposed program for their bathing ritual.
Each group has to specifically develop a program that expresses the ritual in 5-8 spaces. The group has to isolate specific activities/procedures and identify, examine and elaborate on the various needs a space for the activity may have. This must be expressed in relation to issues of form, mediation, ritual, memory. An example of a program for Frying an egg is below. (click to enlarge)

While it is not complete, it gives a good idea of what is required. The final program must be placed on a 18x24 sheet and pinned up on Tuesday.
We will answer any questions about this right here on the blog. Just use the comments section.

ReplyDeletesir seriously. why you post this information soo late
ReplyDelete:-S, but Nieco, we would have gotten it yesterday evening after class, so technically its just a few hours late... no, actually, 1 hour a 55 mins late. negligible :-P
ReplyDeletewhat i want to know is ...in terms of the drawings, are we suppose to draw them like the example shown above, or are we to consider scale and context??
ReplyDelete@Nieco It is posted now so we don't lose time and be forced to compromise the learning objectives of the studio.
ReplyDelete@ Kristina Actually we would have asked for a lot more, had we met on Friday.
@ Howard (& the class) The example is a good image of what it *may* look like. Scale is not needed but proportion is. How would the space for breaking an egg relate to the space for cooking - bigger or smaller? 2 times bigger or 1/4 smaller? What must occur in such a space? How many people? This is really taking the analysis you did for the ritual exercise a step forward.
I hope this helps.
Oh... and context doesn't matter either. It's an analytical diagram.
ReplyDeleteyes i know sir...my group already organised something but we each did it on 11*17 cause sum of use wont meet on the weekend...so we did the sheets separately but we broken down the task as a step by step process...just wanted to know we still have to show a power point presentation with the drawings right?
ReplyDeleteThere are two things to present:
ReplyDelete1) An explanation of a bathing ritual that you have researched and will educate us about. The format for this is open. (powerpoint acceptable)
2) A drawing(s) of what a program for the ritual may look like. This is to be on a single 18x24 sheet.
Think of it as two separate presentations.
ok sir...so what you are saying is that i should transfer the info from the individual 11*17's and put them on the 18 *24...rite?
